Jonathan's signature in 1735 used a "w" in his surname, but the families descending from Jonathan replaced the "w" with a "u" in their signatures. Information on the Boulby families descended from Jonathan comes from the research and notes of B. W. Burley of Sheffield, England, in 1990 to Raymond Edwin Bowlby.

The signature in the photo comes from his marriage Bond in 1732, through the excellent research efforts of Barry Burley in Sheffield England.
