649. Freeman BRAY ^{(3855)(5) (6)(7) (8)} was born on 16 Sep 1811 in near Bronte on Lake Huron.⁽³⁸⁵⁶⁾ He died on 22 May 1895 in Okemos, Ingham County, Michigan. ⁽³⁸⁵⁷⁾ Freeman escaped Canada at the end of the "Paatriot War" in 1838. He
first settled in Northville, Michigan. In the early 1840's, he and
his brother-in-law, Joseph H. Kilbourne, laid out thee town of
Hamilton. After following the California gold rush with his
brother-in-law, Freeman returned to his family in Hamilton in 1856.
The legislature changed the name of this community to Okemos in 1857,
and freeman became known as its founder.

He was married to Caroline Cordelia KILBOURNE on 20 Jan 1839 in Northville, Michigan. ⁽³⁸⁵⁸⁾ Caroline Cordelia KILBOURNE ^{(5)(6) (7)(8)} was born on 17 Dec 1811 in Brockville, Ontario. ⁽³⁸⁵⁹⁾ She died on 1 Dec 1895 in Okemos, Ingham County, Michigan. ⁽³⁸⁶⁰⁾ Freeman BRAY and Caroline Cordelia KILBOURNE had the following children:
