202. Edward G. A. BOWLBY was born about 1766.(1287) (1288) He signed a will in 1839. (1289) proved 25 Oct 1842

In the name of God, Amen. I Edward Bowlby of
Philadelphia,Merchant being in good health of body, and of
sound and disposing mind and memory (praise be to God for the
same) and being desirous to settle my worldly affairs whilst I
have strength and capacity so to do. Do make and publish this
mylast will and testament hereby revoking void all wills made
by me at any time heretofore made, and first and principally I
commit my soul into the hands of my Creator who gave it and my
body to the earth, to be interred in the burial ground of
Christ Church in Philadelphia.; all my lawful debts to be, and
funeral expenses to be paid out of the debts owing to the
estate. I give and bequeath all my real and freehold estate,
lands, tenements,and hereditaments, rents, issues and profits
which I shall die possessed of, and my dearly beloved wife,
Catherine Bowlby, to have and to hold the said real and
freehold estate, lands, tenements, and hereditaments, rents,
issues and profits immediately after my decease, during the
term of her natural life all that I possess, that is to say,
one brick house in Powell Street, Philadelphia and seven
hundred dollars in cash, lawful money, with interest from the
date of this instrument at six percent per annum, being money
(next seven words not legible) and by me investing in the
ironmongry business firm of Edward Bowlby and Co. and to each
of my daughters, Eleanor Bowlby, Maria Bowlby and Catherine
Bowlby the sum of one hundred dollars in cash lawful money in
cash to bear interest at six percent per annum from the first
of January in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred
and twenty four, and all the household furniture to my dear
wife Catherine Bowlby and after her decease to be left to my
three daughters, Eleanor bowlby, Maria Bowlby and Catherine
Bowlby. And after my decease the ironmongry business to be
continued for my wife Catherine Bowlby by my son Edward Bowlby
, she allowing him such portion of the business as they may
agree upon. And after my wife's decease the property (with the
exception of the household furniture) to be divided between my
children as follows: to Eleanor Bowlby one sixth, Maria Bowlby
one third, Edward Bowlby one sixth, Thomas Bowlby on sixth and
Catherine Bowlby one sixth. And I hereby appoint George Thomas
my executor. Signed, Edward Bowlby under date of one thousand
eight hundred and thirty nine. (On October 25, 1842, George
Thomas renounced his appointment as executor and said "and
decline to take upon myself the execution thereof."

He died on 8 Oct 1842.(1290) (1291) He was buried in Christ Church Cemetery, Philadelphia, PA.(1292) He was an an ironmonger and hardware merchant.(1293) (1294) He resided in Philadelphia, PA.(1295) (1296) may have been the son of Edward Bowlby who was the son of
Jordan Bowlby. Jordan was the son of Thomas Bowlby and Martha
Barker. Edward, son of Jordan, was in England in 1743 when he
signed a power of attorney to Thomas Bowlby, his uncle. Edward
is believed to have come to Morris Co., NJ, with his uncle
before 1744 when he advertised for lost cattle. Edward may
have had a son of the right age to marry Catharine Wigfall.
Edward G.A. Bowlby was probably the Edward Bowlby who was
listed as a passenger and immigrant from Great Britain in 1808,
and who received naturalization papers in Philadelphia 3 Oct
1808.

He was married to Catharine WIGFALL (daughter of Samuel WIGFALL and Rachel BOWLBY) on 29 Mar 1794 in Christ Church, Philadelphia, PA.(1297) (1298) Catharine WIGFALL was born on 23 Feb 1773.(1299) She was born on 25 Feb 1773.(1300) She died on 22 Aug 1850.(1301) (1302) She was buried in Christ Church Cemetery, Philadelphia, PA.(1303) Edward G. A. BOWLBY and Catharine WIGFALL had the following children:
