He was married to Margaret NEILY.⁽³⁹¹⁶⁾ 1871 Wilmot cenuss, 80/90 Bowlby Israel 30, 1841, Meth. carpenter,
Margaret 28, 1843, Bessie M. 4, Isa F. 7 mo. 1870.

According the a Feb. 2001 email from Fred Potter:

The LWT of Ward Neily, Margaret's father, Registered 182, lists the
children of his daughter Margaret Bowlby (1841-1873) as Bessie and Ira
Bowlby. Bessie died some six years later, and Ira presumably left
Nova Scotia after 1881 census. Margaret NEILY⁽⁴¹⁸⁴⁾⁽⁸⁾ was born in 1841.⁽⁴¹⁸⁵⁾ She died on 23 Sep 1873.⁽³⁹¹⁶⁾ She was buried in Middleton Pine Grove Cemetery #547.⁽³⁹¹⁶⁾ Israel BOWLBY and Margaret NEILY had the following children:
