432. Elisha Hess BOWLBY ⁽²⁵¹⁸⁾⁽²⁵¹⁹⁾⁽⁷⁶⁰⁾ was born on 3 Oct 1819 in Newton, Sussex Co., NJ. He was a farmer.

The facts of Elisha's life come from a history of Kansas by A. T.
ANDREAS, and the research of Jack N. REYNOLDS of Wichita, Kansas.
According to Elisha's sketch in the history, Elisha was six years old
when his family moved to Fayette County, Pennsylvania, where he was
reared and educated-actually he would have been around ten years old in
1828 when his parents are believed to have moved. In 1835, he moved to
Warren County, Ohio, where he engaged in farming for ten years. He then
moved to Clinton County, Indiana, where he lived for some time. In
1868, he arrived in Doniphan County, Kansas, where his biographical
sketch was published in 1883. He married twice. He first married 28
June, 1849, ELISA JANE ANDERSON, born 7 May, 1828, Ohio, died 23 May,
1873, Severance, Kansas. There were five known children by this
marriage: Isaac Gilbert, John William, Henry V., James Hervey, and Ira
Melly. Elisha secondly married 23 May, 1874, Severance, Kansas, LYDIA
JANE (WOLLARD) DARBY, daughter of James W. and Lydia WOLLARD, who had
four children by a former marriage of whom three are known: Belle
Darby, Samantha Darby, and Mina Darby; the fourth child was a male whose
name is not known. Lydia was born 20 October, 1841 Troy, Kansas, died
29 August, 1924, Savonburg, Kansas, or Stillwater, Oklahoma. Elisha and
Lydia had two known children: Charles Festus, and Estella May.

E. H. BOWLBY, farmer, P. O. Severance, was born in Newtown, Sussex Co.,
N. J., October 3, 1819. His parents were Samuel and Johanna (Parkhurst)
Bowlby. When he was six years of age he came to Fayette County, Penn.
and was reared and educated in that county. In 1835 he moved to Warren
County, Ohio, where he was engaged in farming for ten years; from Warren
County he moved to Clinton County Ind., where he lived for some time. In
1868 came to Kansas and settled in this county. He has been twice
married, first to Miss Eliza Anderson, June 28, 1849, a native of Ohio,
born May 7, 1828, died May 23, 1873. He married for his second wife
Miss Lydia Darby, born in Cedar County, Mo., October 15,1846. He has
seven children - Isaac G., John W., Henry V., James H., Iva M., Charlie
F., and Stella M. Mr. Bowlby is a Democrat.

He was married to Elisa Jane ANDERSON on 28 Jun 1849 in Boone Co., IN.⁽²⁵²⁰⁾ Elisa Jane ANDERSON⁽²⁵²¹⁾⁽²⁵²²⁾⁽⁷⁶⁰⁾ was born on 7 May 1828 in Ohio. She died on 23 May 1873 in Severance, Doniphan Co., KS.⁽²⁵²³⁾ She was also known as Eliza. Elisha Hess BOWLBY and Elisa Jane ANDERSON had the following children:

He was married to Lydia Jane WOLLARD on 23 May 1874 in Severance, Doniphan Co., KS.⁽²⁵³¹⁾ Lydia Jane WOLLARD⁽²⁵³²⁾⁽²⁵³³⁾⁽⁷⁶⁰⁾ was born on 20 Oct 1841 in Troy, Doniphan Co., KS.⁽²⁵³⁴⁾ Raymond BOWLBY shows Lydia as being born 15 OCT 1846 in Cedar Co., MO. She died on 29 Aug 1924 in Savonburg, KS or Stillwater, OK.⁽²⁵³⁵⁾ Elisha Hess BOWLBY and Lydia Jane WOLLARD had the following children:
