689. James BOWLBY ^{(4014)(5) (6)(7) (8)} was born on 24 Jul 1835 in Clement, Nova Scotia.⁽⁴⁰¹⁵⁾ He died on 1 Jul 1918 in Herscher, Kankakee County, Illinois.⁽⁴⁰¹⁶⁾ He was buried in Pilot Cemetery, Herscher, Illinois. ⁽⁴⁰¹⁷⁾ James immigrated to the United States in 1855, and located in Kankakee
County, where he purchased unimproved land in Norton and Pilot
Townships, and farmed until 1880. He moved to Herscher wherre he
built a business house and was a merchant for ten years. In 1889 he
engaged in the hotel business and was a hotel keeper until the fall of
1892. His biography appears in PORTRAIT AND BIOGRAPHICAL RECORD OF
KANKAKEE COUNTY ILLINOIS, 1893.

He was married to Mary Jane BARBER on 3 Dec 1860.⁽⁴⁰¹⁸⁾ Mary Jane BARBER^{(5) (6)(7) (8)} was born on 14 Jul 1833 in Monogan County, Ireland. ⁽⁴⁰¹⁹⁾ She died on 30 Dec 1918 in Herscher, Kankakee County, Illinois. ⁽⁴⁰²⁰⁾ James BOWLBY and Mary Jane BARBER had the following children:
