1867. He died on 3 Nov 1939 in Wilmot, Annapolis Co. Nova Scotia. Obituary: Wilmot, Nov 8 - The death of Arthur Parker Bowlby
occurred at his home here, Nov 3, after a lengthy illness. His
passing removes one of the eldest and highly respected citizens of the
community, where he was well known for his sterling character and kind
deeds. The late Mr. Bowlby was born at Margaretsville 72 years ago,
son of Parker Bowlby and Jane (Ray) Bowlby. On Christmas Eve, 1888,
he married Miss Adelaide Pierce of Forest Glade, and on Dec 24 last
they celebrated the 50th anniversary of their wedding. Mr. Bowlby was
one of the outstanding farmers of the Valley, being particularly
interested in apples and small fruits. In politics, he was a staunch
Liberal.
In the immediate family three are left to mourn; his widow; one
son, Neil R., on the homestead; and two daughters, Mrs. E. H. Fales
of Melrose, Mass., Mrs. H.P. Reagh of Weymouth, Mass.; and six
grandchildren; and one brother, Hallett Bowlby, of Wilmot.

Deaths: Bowlby - Arthur Parker - At his home, Wilmot, Annapolis
County, Nov 3, Arthur Parker Bowlby, age 72 years. He is survived by
his widow, one son and two daughters, also six grandchildren and one
brother. Funeral was held from his home, Sunday, Nov 5. Interment was
in Pine Grove Cemetery.

Arthur Parker Bowlby
In the passing of Arthur Parker Bowlby the community of Wilmot
has lost one of its respected and highly esteemed citizens. The late
Mr. Bowlby's death occured on Friday, November 3rd, following a long
severe illness.
He was the son of the late Jane and Parker Bowlby and was born at
Margaretville seventy-two years ago.
Surviving besides his wife, who was the former Adelaide Pierce,
of Forest Glade, is one son and two daughters, Neil R. Bowlby of
Wilmot; Evelyn, Mrs Ernest H. Fales, of Melrose, Mass., and Jean, Mrs.
Harley P. Reagh, of Weymouth, Mass.; One brother, Hallett Bowlby, of
Wilmot, also survives.
On Christmas eve, 1938, Mr. and Mrs. Bowlby celebrated their
Golden Wedding Anniversary.
The very largely attended funeral was held Sunday afternoon from
the home at three o'clock, conducted by Rev. J. Murray Armstrong, of
the United Baptist Church, Middleton. The Middleton Male Quartette
sang "Crossing the Bar" and "Sometime, Somewhere." Burial took place
at Pine Grove Cemetery, Lower Middleton. Pallbearers were Chas. T.
Reagh, G.R. Beals, W.A. Curry and N.W. Baker.

COUPLE CELEBRATE GOLDEN WEDDING
MIDDLETON, Dec. 28 - On Saturday, December 24th. Mr. & Mrs. A.P.
Bowlby of Wilmot, were "at home" to their friends, the occasion being
their fiftieth wedding anniversary.
The rooms were tastefully decorated in keeping with the Christmas
season. Red carnations and red candles were used in the dining room
and white and mauve chrysanthemums in the living room.
Mr. and Mrs. Bowlby were assisted in receiving by their daughter,
Mrs. E.H. Fales of Melrose, Mass. The door was opened by their
grandsons Ernest Fales and Arthur Bowlby.
Mrs. A. L. Davidson presided at the tea table in the afternoon
and Mrs. John G. Masters in the evening. Those assisting were the
Misses Ruth Wotton, Shirley Harris, Mrs. Roy Fales, Mrs. L.E. Wotton
and Mrs. Ralph Earley.
Many friends called to offer congratulations and wish them many
more years of happiness. Telegrams, cards and gifts were also
received from distant friends.
A very pleasing feature of the event was the presentation of a
beautiful floor lamp from their friends in the community. Adelaide M. PIERCE(8579) (5)(6) (7)(8) was born on 13 Apr 1860 in Forest Glade, Annapolis Co. Nova Scotia. (8582)(8583) 1901 Annapolis District, Nova Scotia Census indicates birth of 10 Sept

After an illness extending over a long period, the death of Mrs.
Adelaide Pierce Bowlby, of Wilmot, occured on Tuesday, Dec. 9, at the
age of 92 years.
She was the former Adelaide Pierce, daughter of the late William
Henry and Mary Baker Pierce, and was born at Forest Glade. Since the
death of her husband, Aurhur P. Bowlby, thirteen years ago, she has
made her home with her son Neil, on the homestead.
She was an active member of the Wilmot Women's Institute in its
early years and an ardent worker in the Red Cross during World War I.
She had lived in Wilmot since her marriage in December 1888, and was
endeared to all who knew her by her gracious personality.
She is survived by one son Neil, and two daughters, (Evelyn) Mrs.
Ernest H. Fales, Melrose, Mass., and (Jean) Mrs. Harley P. Reagh,
South Weymouth, Mass. Five brothers, a half-brother, and a
half-sister predeceased her.
The funeral was held from her home on Friday, December 12th, with
Rev. Austin D. MacPherson officiating. Interment was made in Pine
Grove Cemetery. Pall bearers were: Lee Curry, Charles Harris, Moody
Sanford, and Edwin Clarke.
The floral offerings were very beautiful.

CARD OF THANKS
The family of the late Mrs. Adelaide Bowlby wish to express their
sincere appreciation to her many friends, relatives and neighbours who
showed so many acts of kindness during her sickness and at the time of
her death. Special thanks to those who sent floral tributes, cards
and letters of sympathy. Also to Rev. A.D. MacPherson for his words
