581. Samuel BOWLBY ^(3)(3730) was born on 30 Nov 1823 in Montgomery County, Ohio. ⁽³⁷³¹⁾ He died on 13 Mar 1905 in Muscatane, Iowa. ^(3732)(3733) Although Bowlby families had a different date, Julie (Bowlby) Millier obtained the obit. from the Muscatine Journal & News 13 Mar. 1905, Muscatine, IA.

He was married to Mary Ann WILCOX in 1845.⁽³⁷³⁴⁾ They moved to eastern Iowa in the 1850s. This list of children is based upon research by Julie (Bowlby) Miller, as listed in the 1860 IA census. The youngest, Marguerite, apparently was born after that.

The 1900 census indicates 7 children, 6 living. Hm... the numbers still don't add up - It is presumed that Ida died young. Mary Ann WILCOX was born on 17 Jan 1827 in Pennsylvania. ^(3735)(3736) Julie (Bowlby) Miller has done extensive research on the question of Mary Ann (Wilcox) Bowlby's birth. Her general conclusion to use 17 Jan 1827 is a result of information found in the 1900 Census, death record (Where Mary Ann was identified as Mary Bowlsley). Her obit does agree with information in Bowlby families of 4 May 1829. Cemetery records lists her as 85 yr. which would put her year of birth in 1827.

The location of her birth is also in some question - Dayton, OH or Pennsylvania... Julie has used the U.S. Fed Census from IA 1900 and 1910 to conclude Pennsylvania. She died on 3 Sep 1912 in Muscatine, Iowa.⁽³⁷³⁷⁾ Samuel BOWLBY and Mary Ann WILCOX had the following children:
