3003. Harry Laity BOWLBY D.D.(3) (12102)(805) (6)(7) (8) was born on 26 Jan 1874 in near Asbury, New Jersey. (12103)(12104) He died on 17 Nov 1966 in Bloomfield, New Jersey.(12105) (12106) Harry Laity graduated from Blair Academy in Blairstown, New Jersey, in
1897, received his Bachelor of Arts degree from Princeton University
in 1901, where in 1900 he had organized the Princeton University Press
Club. In 1903, he received his Master of Arts degree from Princeton
University, and in 1904, a Bachelor of Divinity from Princetom
Theological Seminary. From 1905-1913, he was pastor of the First
Presbyterian Church in Altoona, Pennsylvania. In 1917, he was awarded
the honorary Doctor of Divinity from Washington College in Tennessee.
He was an honorary member of the Federal Employees Society of New York
City, and received a national award for helping postal employees of
New York City to attain better working conditions. During World War
I, he visited armed forces installations throughout the United States
as chaplain of the Y.M.C.A. For 40 years, he was general secretary of
the Lord's Day Alliance, an organization representing 23 protestant
denominations who primary function was to encourage the observance of
Sunday as a day of rest. For many years his credentials appeared in
WHO'S WHO IN AMERICA, and his obiturary appeared in the New York Times
on 18 Nov. 1966.

He was married to Bertha Hamlin WATSON on 6 Nov 1909. (12107) (12108) Bertha Hamlin WATSON (3)(805) (6)(7) (8) was born on 4 Jan 1879.(12109) (12110) She died in 1978. (12111) (12112) Harry Laity BOWLBY D.D. and Bertha Hamlin WATSON had the following children:
