He was buried on 23 May 1981 in Fairlawn Cemetery, Decatur, Macon County, Illinois. Lauren was a career military officer who served in World War II and
Vietnam, acquiring the rank of Colonel. Duty postings took the family
to Japan, Turkey, and Germany, among other places. He and Mary were
