FIFTH GENERATION

56. Bryan BOWLBY (266)(6) (7)(8) was born before 17 Nov 1633 in Helmsley in Ryedale District, North Riding of Yorkshire County, England.(267) (268)(269) He was born and raised on the moors of North Riding, Yorkshire, near Helmsley where at least four recorded generations of his forefathers had lived. He was baptised on 17 Nov 1633 in Helmsley in Ryedale District, North Riding of Yorkshire County, England.(270) He died on 21 Nov 1696 in Mansfield Woodhouse, Nottinghamshire, England. (271)(272)

He was married to Elizabeth MANNERS on 6 Oct 1659 in Helmsley in Ryedale District, North Riding of Yorkshire County, England.(273) Prior to the birth of their first child about 1660, Bryan and Elizabeth moved to Mansfield Woodhouse. It a community at the edge of Sherwood Forest, north of Mansfield, in Nottinghamshire. Elizabeth MANNERS (274)(275) (6)(7) (8) was born in 1633.(276) She died on 26 Nov 1669 in Mansfield Woodhouse, Nottinghamshire, England. (277)(278) Perhaps Elizabeth died during child birth of her youngest daughter, Helen. Mansfield Woodhouse is a small community at the edge of Sherwood Forest and just north of Mansfield, Nottinghamshire. Elizabeth Manners's parentage remains unknown; however, it is interesting to notes that the Manners family had held two manors at Helmsley and the titles of "Earl of Rutland" and "Baron de Ros" since 1538. It was perhaps significant that Bryan and Elizabeth moved from Helmsley before the birth of their first child in 1662 to Mansfield Woodhouse in county Nottingham, and that Francis Manners, 6th Earl of Rutland, 18th Baron de Ros, was warden of Sherwood Forest and constable of Nottingham Castle. Bryan BOWLBY and Elizabeth MANNERS had the following children:

child+71 i. Elizabeth BOWLBY.
child72 ii. Richard BOWLBY(6) (7)(8) was born in 1661. (279) He was christened on 26 Mar 1662 in Mansfield Woodhouse, Nottinghamshire, England. (280)(281)
child73 iii. Bryan BOWLBY(6) (7)(8) was born in 1664. (282) He was christened on 5 Jun 1664 in Mansfield Woodhouse, Nottinghamshire, England. (283)(284) (285) Dennis Heathcote's research indicates an unreadable name in the Parish records has the Christening date of 2 April 1666. By a process of elimination, since all other children are identified within Dennis' notes, this record must be an indication for son Bryan. He died in 1696. (286)
child+74 iv. Thomas BOWLBY.
child+75 v. Mary BOWLBY.
child76 vi. Helen BOWLBY(6) (7)(8) was born in 1669. (287) She was christened on 27 Aug 1669 in Mansfield Woodhouse, Nottinghamshire, England. (288)(289) (290) She died on 17 Feb 1673 in Mansfield Woodhouse, Nottinghamshire, England.(291) (292)
