Elizabeth BOWLBY (3)(530) (6)(7) (8) was born on 26 Jun 1706 in Mansfield Woodhouse, Nottinghamshire, England.(531) She was baptised on 27 Jul 1706 in Parish of Mansfield Woodhouse, Nottinghamshire. (532) She signed a will on 10 Sep 1782. (533) He will was proved Feb 16, 1785. She died between 13 Sep 1782 and 16 Feb 1785 in New Jersey. (534) In the power of attorney to her brother, Thomas, signed 29 Nov 1743, she was a spinster living in England. She may have come to America with her brother, Thomas in 1744.

She was married to Captain James BAIRD about 1743. (535)(536) James Baird, the other supposed son of William and Katharine Beard, died in 1778. He lived in Bethlehem township, Hunterdon county, N. J. In his will, dated September 27, 1778, and proved November 1, 1778, he left a legacy of five pounds to the trustees of the Mansfield Woodhouse meeting house. Mr. Baird, in 1763, offered a plantation to be let in the Jerseys, within three miles of Philadelphia. He was a member of the Town Committee for Bethlehem township, 1768-72, and a Freeholder in 1770, 1772 and 1777. He was described as Captain James Baird. The name of his wife was Elizabeth Bowlsby; they had no issue. He left his estate to his wife to dispose of it as she chose. She left one-fourth of her estate to her brother, Thomas Bowlsby, and the remaining three-fourths to her nephew, Thomas Bowlsby, son of her brother John, in trust, one-fourth for the children of her brother Richard, one-fourth for the children of her brother George, and one-fourth for the children of her brother John. She directed that her negro wench, Pegg, should be freed at her death, and her negro boy, Oroonoko, when twenty-five years old, and be given twenty pounds. Her will was dated September 10, 1782, and proved February 16, 1785. Captain James BAIRD (537)(6) (538) (7)(8) died in 1778. (539)
