He was married to Catherine LUNGER on 10 Oct 1822.⁽³⁰²⁴⁾
There is confusion over the birthdates for the some of children born
to Samuel and Catherine Mowder. They appear in different Warren
County Census' as having ages that don't jive, thus at this point
their exact dates of birth are unknown. This applies to Ellen, Susan,
Caroline, Samuel, James and Jane. The census' are The 1850, 1860, and
1870 Warren County Census. Catherine LUNGER⁽⁸⁰⁷⁾⁽⁸⁰⁸⁾⁽⁷⁾⁽⁸⁾ was born on 24 Jun 1804.⁽³⁰²⁵⁾ She was buried in Washington Cemetery, Washington, New Jersey.⁽³⁰²⁶⁾ Samuel MOWDER and Catherine LUNGER had the following children:

+1288 i. John MOWDER.
+1289 ii. William S. MOWDER.
1290 iii. Catherine MOWDER⁽⁸⁰⁷⁾⁽⁸⁰⁸⁾⁽⁷⁾⁽⁸⁾ was born about 1832.⁽³⁰²⁷⁾ She was also known as "Kate".⁽³⁰²⁸⁾
+1291 iv. Jacob MOWDER.
1292 v. Ellen MOWDER⁽⁸⁰⁷⁾⁽⁸⁰⁸⁾⁽⁷⁾⁽⁸⁾ was born between 1837 and 1842.⁽³⁰²⁹⁾ The 1850 Warren County Census lists her age as 13; in 1860 as age 21;
in 1870 as age 28.
1293 vi. Susan MOWDER⁽⁸⁰²⁾⁽⁷⁾⁽⁸⁾ was born between 1839 and 1844.⁽³⁰³⁰⁾ The 1850 Warren County Census lists her age as 11; in 1860 as age 19;
in 1870 as age 26.
1294 vii. Caroline MOWDER⁽⁸⁰⁷⁾⁽⁸⁰⁸⁾⁽⁷⁾⁽⁸⁾ was born between 1841 and 1846.⁽⁸⁰²⁾
According to Mary McAllister:

She is not listed in the 1850 Census, therefore she may not have been
a child of Samuel and Catherine.
1295 viii. Samuel MOWDER Jr.⁽⁸⁰⁷⁾⁽⁸⁰⁸⁾⁽⁷⁾ ⁽⁸⁾ was born between 1841 and 1846.⁽³⁰³¹⁾ He is listed in the 1850 Warren County Census as a part of Samuel and
Catherine's household, age 9; in 1860 as age 14. The 1870 Census
lists two Samuel Mowders, ages 22 and 12. There is definite confusion
here.
1296 ix. James MOWDER⁽⁸⁰⁷⁾⁽⁸⁰⁸⁾⁽⁷⁾⁽⁸⁾ was born in 1849.⁽³⁰³²⁾ He appears in the 1850 Census as being one year old, but does not
appear in the 1860 Census and may have died young.
1297 x. Jane MOWDER⁽⁸⁰⁷⁾⁽⁸⁰⁸⁾⁽⁷⁾⁽⁸⁾ was born about 1849.⁽³⁰³³⁾ She first appears in the 1860 Census as age 11. She is not listed in
1870, thus may have died or married and left home.
