EIGHTH GENERATION

154. Samuel BOWLSBY (938) (5)(581) (582)(7) (8) was born after 1737 in Hanover Township, Morris County, New Jersey. (939) According to Raymond Edwin Bowlby, probably in the late 1740's. He died before 22 May 1784 in Morris County, NJ. (940) He died in testate. An inventory of his estate was taken 22 May 1784. He signed a will. (941) Administration of Samuel's estate was granted to "Kesia Bowlsby" of Sussex County, 25 May 1784.
He was the fifth son named in his father's will of 1773, and he was of age, but his two younger brothers were not. He could have been born as late as 1751. Samuel remained in Morris County, New Jersey, throughout his life, and was probably the Samuel Bowlsby who served as a private in the Morris County Militia during the Revolution.

He was married to Kesiah.(942) Samuel's brother Thomas left a bequest for Samuel's daughter, Betsy. Kesiah(3) (5)(581) (582)(7) (8) was born about 1755.(943) She died on 9 Mar 1833.(944) She was buried in Saltfleet Township, Ontario, Canada. (945) A grave believed to be that of Kazia Bowlsby, Samuel's wife, has been located in Saltfleet Township, Ontario, Canada, by Ewart D. Bowlby of Ottawa. The inscription reads: "Kazia Bowlsby mother of Elizabeth Bowlsby Willson, died 9 March 1833, aged 78 years." It appears that Kazia spent her final years living with the family of her only known daughter, Elizabeth or "Betsy." She was also known as "Kazia" or "Kesia". (946) Samuel BOWLSBY and Kesiah had the following children:
