three land purchases in Liberty Township, Delaware County,
Indiana: 80 acres on 20 May 1829; 80 acres on 31 October 1829; and 160
acres on 13 June 1836. He was married to Juliann SHANNON about 1820.
(3793) Levi "Bowlesby" and Juliann Shannon applied for a
marriage license in
Brookville, Franklin County, Indiana 29 March 1820, but the marriage
was not finally recorded there.

Levi Bowlsby & wife Julia Ann of Delaware Co.Indiana sold to Ebenezer
Hayward(brother in law that married her sister Sarah Shannon) by quit
claim 3-25-1836 for $ 160.00 Interest in Estate of Samuel
Shannon-father of Julia Ann.

She may have been the adopted daughter of Levi and Juliann (Shannon)
Bowlsby. The Delaware County, Indiana census of 1850 lists her as
Sarah Richardson two years old living with Levi and Juliann Bowlsby.
The name Richardson indicates she was related to Elthera Richardson
who married Levi's son Enos in 1850. After Levi's family moved to
Madison County, Iowa, in 1855, she was listed as having the name of
Bowlsby in 1856 census, and as Sarah J. Bowlsby twelve years old in
the 1860 census. |
