Lucretia M. Bowlby was born in New Jersey, March 5th, 1851 and died July 15 1925 aged 74 years 4 months and 10 days.
She was united in marriage to John Morris Bowlby in 1874. To this union were born six children, two sons and four daughters, the husband and one daughter having preceded her to the spirit world. Those who remain are William, Samuel, Cora, Matilda, ad Ella. She also leaves to mourn their loss, two sons and three daughters, 28 grand children and 9 great grand children, and a host of friends and relatives.
She was converted in the Webb Summitt M.E. Church under the ministry of L.B. Sparks and united with the church at this time and remained a true and faithful servant to both the church and her God. Always ready to answer any or all calls to make happiness to all whom she could. Altho aged in years, she will be missed by all who knew her; but will be accepted by those who have been looking for her I that city not built with hands. She was a kind, loving wife and mother, always like Jesus going about to do good.
Life's labor done as sinking the clay
Light from its load the spirit flies;
While heaven and earth combined to say:
"How blest the righteous when she dies!"
So when life's sweet journey ends,
Soul and body part like friends;
No quarrels, no murmurs, no delay,
A kiss, a sigh and so away!
Through nameless, trampled and forgot,
Her servant's humble ashes lie;
Yet, God has marked and sealed the spot
To call its inmates to the sky.
