John Grant Bowlby, for many years resident of Kiowa county died at his home Feb.20,1923, aged 57 years, 8 months and 13 days. While he had been suffering from heart disease for some time, which caused his death, the end came suddenly, induced by an attack of influenza.
John Grant Bowlby was born June 7, 1865 in Lake County,Colo., and in 1877 moved with his parents to Kiowa county, where he made his home until the time of his demise. He was united in marriage to Mary Drury in May 1897 and to this union ten children were born, eight of whom with the wife survive: Sam, Aaron, Irvin, John, Lee, Mrs. Hazel Duncan, Tillie and Elizabeth. He is also survived by one brother, Lee, of Bucklin and three sisters, Mrs. Pennycuff, Olney,Ill., Mrs. Charles Escott, ElPaso, Texas, Mrs. T.W. Telfer, Albuquerque, New Mexico.
Mr. Bowlby was a man well liked by his neighbors and friends and will be missed in the community where his life was such as to win him many friends.
The funeral services were conducted from the home Wednesday at 10:30 by Rev. Wright and the remains were laid to rest in the Bucklin Cemetery.
