WILLIAM BARKER - Will of 1687
In the name of God Amen the 10th day of June 1687. I William Barker of
Mansfield in the County of Nottingham School Master, being sick in body but
of good and perfect memory thanks be to Almighty God and Calling to
remembrance the uncertaine Estate of the transitory life and that all flesh
must yield unto death, when it shall please god to Call do make constitute
ordain and declare this my last Will and testament in manner and form
ffollowing revoking and annulling by these present all said xxxx?
testament and testaments wills and xxxx? heretofore by me made, and
declared either by word or writing, and this is to be taken only on my last
Will and testament and none other And first being p--itent and xxx? xxx?
the Bottome of my heart for my sins past most humbly desiring forgiveness
for the same. I give and commit my Soule unto Almighty God my Saviour and
redeemer in whom and by the merite of Jesus Christ I trust and believe
assuredly to be saved and to have full remission and forgiveness of All my
Sins and that my Soule with my body at the general day of resurrection shall
rise again with joy and through the merite of Christs death and passion
possess and inherit the Kingdom of Heaven prepared for his ellect and
chosen, And my body to be buried in such place where it shall please my
Executrix hereafter names to appoint: And now for the Setling of my
temporall Estate and such goods Chattells, and Debts as it hath pleased
God far above my defects xxx? upon me I do order give and dispose the Same
in manner and form following Vis first I will that all those debts and
Duties as should in right or conscience to all manner of person or persons
what so ever shall be well and truly contented and payed or ordained to
be paid within Convienient time after my decease by my Executrix hereafter
named.
Item I give and bequeath unto my wife Elizabeth Barker, my Executrix my
messuage house with the out houses stables Barnes orchards and Gardens and
all the Assart Land belonging to the same with the Appertenances lyeing
within the territories of Mansfield aforesaid and I also give unto my wife
my Goods Cattells and debts which I have owing me . She paying my xxx? and
ffunerall charges and it is my will and desire that if any thing beleft at
her decease that she will dispose of it as she thinks fitt to John Haulton,
Margaret Haulton and Samuel Haulton junior the sons and xxxx of Samuel
Haulton of Mansfield aforesaid And to my two kinswomen at Sherbrook xxxx
County of Darby Anne and Ffrannces Snowden the daughters of Christopher
Snowden and if any of them chance to dye the rest to equally divided amongst
the survivors. Lastly I leave Samuel Burras and Samuel Shepherd both of
Mansfield in the County aforesaid Maltsters to be supervisors for my said
wife in witness whereof I have hearunto set my hand and Seale the day and
year first above written Signed and delivered in the presence of John
James , Jno Barker and Elizabeth Bower
