899. Peter G. BOWLBY ^{(5006) (760)} was born about 1819 in Somerset Co., PA. He was a farmer in 1860 in Somerset Twp., Jackson Co., IL.⁽⁵⁰⁰⁷⁾ He died on 8 Jan 1869 in Jackson Co., IL.

After Peter died in 1869, his younger brother, Henry Clay BOWLBY, became administrator of his estate. The ages of children and state in which they were born on the census reports indicate that Peter and his family left Pennsylvania and moved to Jackson Co., IL. before 1845. Upon his enrollment as a private in Company A., 31st Regiment, Illinois Infantry on 13 AUG 1862, Peter was described as a farmer of 43 years of age, five feet eight and a half inches, having blue eyes and black hair. Peter was discharged before Vicksburg, Mississippi, as a wounded soldier on 23 JUN 1863.

He was married to Mary Ann WHIPKEY. Mary Ann WHIPKEY ^{(5008) (760)} was born about 1824 in Pennsylvania. Peter G. BOWLBY and Mary Ann WHIPKEY had the following children:

2205 ii. Marion S. BOWLBY^{(5010) (760)} was born about 1845 in Pennsylvania. He signed his father's death certificate in 1869.

2206 iii. Franklin BOWLBY^{(5011) (760)} was born about 1852 in Ava, Levan Twp., Jackson Co., IL. He was not named as a survivor or heir at his father's death in 1869.

2207 iv. Susan J. BOWLBY^{(5012) (760)} was born about 1854 in Ava, Levan Twp., Jackson Co., IL. She was six years old in the 1860 census and named as a survivor and heir in 1869.

2208 v. Samuel BOWLBY^{(5013) (760)} was born about 1857 in Ava, Levan Twp., Jackson Co., IL. He was three years old in the 1860 census and was named as a survivor at his father's death in 1869.

2209 vi. Winfield S. BOWLBY^{(5014) (760)} was born about 1859 in Ava, Levan Twp., Jackson Co., IL. In May 1877 his guardians were James H. BOWLBY and David KING described as next of kin to Peter G. BOWLBY.

2210 vii. Emma J. BOWLBY^{(5015) (760)} was born in 1861 in Ava, Levan Twp., Jackson Co., IL. In May 1877 her guardians were James H. BOWLBY and David KING.

2211 viii. Peter G. BOWLBY^{(5016) (760)} was born in 1863 in Ava, Levan Twp., Jackson Co., IL. In May 1877 his guardians were James H. BOWLBY and David KING.

He was married to Maria HOOKER.
