394. Samuel Barker BOWLBY ^{(2348) (2349)(760)} was born on 5 Jul 1782 in Sussex Co., NJ. He died in 1846 in Murphysboro, Jackson Co., IL. He was buried in Halladay Cem., Murphysboro, Jackson Co., IL.

There may have been some error in who his mother was, but Samuel is named in his grandfather's estate records as a son of John, and he and his wife, Hulda, were living in Turkeyfoot Township, Somerset Co., PA. on 15 Mar 1825, when they disposed of part of his grandfather's land. The 1820 census of Turkeyfoot Twp. has Samuel "BOWLSBY" living there with his wife and eight children. Samuel's family left PA. after the birth of his youngest child, Sarah (b. 1832), and moved to Ohio for some time before moving on to Murphysboro, Jackson Co., IL. where Samuel bought 8,000 acres of land 3 May 1841.

He was married to Hulda MESSENE\MESZENE in New Jersey.⁽²³⁵⁰⁾ Hulda MESSENE\MESZENE ^{(2351)(2352) (760)} was born on 4 Mar 1784 in Somerset Co., PA. She died in 1844 in Murphysboro, Jackson Co., IL. She was buried in Halladay Cem., Murphysboro, Jackson Co., IL. Samuel Barker BOWLBY and Hulda MESSENE\MESZENE had the following children:
