He died in May 1921 in Brooklyn, Kings Co., NY at his son's home. ⁽⁹⁷¹⁸⁾ He was buried in Englewood, Bergen Co., NJ. Benjamin was quite successful in business, and he and his brother, George, had mining interests. Benjamin became treasurer of American Coal Company.

He was married to Clara Ureta MEAD in 1879. Clara Ureta MEAD ^(9719)(760) died in Dec 1920. She was buried in Englewood, Bergen Co., NJ. Benjamin Shevill BOWLBY and Clara Ureta MEAD had the following children:

Herbert Mead delayed his study of medicine for fifteen years and engaged in business. As a doctor, he practiced medicine in New York and Connecticut although he resided in Connecticut after 1922.
