Jeff Newman provides additional clarification: The Outhit name is
quite common around Kingston and Aylesford, and comes from Dr. Outhit,
who was Aylesford and district's only doctor for many years. It is
pronounced "oo-thit".

An unreliable suggestion was that perhaps Solomon's middle name was
Joel.

He was married to Susanah Amelia SLOCUM about 1827 in Nova Scotia, Canada. ^{(368)(1785) (1786)} The 1871 Aylesford N. Census has 166/177 Bowlby Solomon 68, 1803,
Bapt. farmer, Susan 61, 1810, Outhit 17, 1854.

The 1881 Census Solomon has died (no household), Susan now lives with
son Joshua. Susanah Amelia SLOCUM ^{(1787)(1788) (5)(6) (1789)(7) (8)} was born on 6 Sep 1809 in Mount Hanley, Annopolis, Nova Scotia. ⁽¹⁷⁹⁰⁾ She was also known as "Susan Spriggs or Grigs Slocomb".^{(1791) (1792)} Roy Davis III, is a direct descendant of Susanah, and as such, she is
listed as Roy refers to her.

Update 5/2000 - and yet, descendant researcher Wayne Bowbly refers to
her as Susan Spriggs Solcomb...

Jay Tyson has her middle name listed as "Sprigs"

But Fred Potter believes the answer to her middle name is found in
Calnek's work, as Susan's grandmother was Eleanor Spriggs, and back in
the 1800s it was very common to give daughters a family surname as a
middle name.
