***********
Samuel Riddle has two grandsons named Thomas, after Thomas Kennedy -
husband of Mary Riddle (b. 1773/1778?), presumed to be Samuel's
sister. Mary was the second wife of Thomas Kennedy. He was a wealthy
land owner in Greenwich Township, Warren County. It appears that both
Elijah G.Riddle and his brother Jacob H. Riddle (sons of Samuel Riddle
b. 1778) named a child after this Thomas Kennedy.

Both cousins where born in or near the same time, both in the month of
November. Both carried the same name, enlisting within a month of
each other, and ironically both into an 8th Regiment, both end up
being killed in action. Thomas, son of Elijah, killed on February 15,
1862, while Thomas, son of Jacob, being killed within three months, on
May 5, 1862, at the battle of Williamsburg.

Also ironically, William Bowlby was in Company H. 8th Regt., and wrote
of the death of Thomas K. Riddle, as they were in the same company.
Thomas K. Riddle died in the battle of Williamsburg. (1st cousin of
this Thomas B. Riddle).
