224. Robert BOWLBY (1438)(5) (6)(7) (8) was born on 25 Jan 1772 in Sussex County, New Jersey.(1439) He died on 3 Jul 1834.(1440) He died on 3 July 1834, according to the Bible records of Francis Hornbaker, his son-in-law. He inherited the "Homestead Plantation" from his father, and he and his brother Thomas, were co-executors when their father's will was probated 24 Nov 1818. He signed a will.(1441) The will was written on 11 Feb 1831; an investory of his estate was taken 19 Aug 1834, and the will was proved 29 Dec 1934. John left his homestead plantation to Robert, next to the youngest of his four living sons.

Robert appears in the 1793 NEW JERSEY STATE MILITIA CENSUS Mansfield Twp., Sussex Co. (now Warren Co.)

It was a listing of all men between the ages of 18 and 45 living in Mansfield Twp., Sussex Co., NJ in 1793 who were otherwise not part of an independent military company. The census was taken pursuant to an act of the New Jersey Legislature passed on 30 November 1792. The total number enumerated in Sussex County was 2,615, exclusive of those in independent companies.

He was married to Jane ADAMS.(1442) (1443) Jane ADAMS (1444)(5) (6)(7) (8) was born on 17 Jun 1775.(1445) She died on 3 Apr 1831.(1446) FREE PRESS on 23 July 1969, presents the following story:

When a little girl (Jane Adams) went to live with her sister, Mr. William Williamson, in Philadelphis. At that time Philadelphia was the capital and George Washington was President of the United States. He lived on the opposite side of the street from the Williamson residence and he frequently spoke to the little girl, and was very courteous to people in general. He used to ride out daily in fine weather, mounted on a white horse...He [Robert Bowlby] also raised a family and 64 years ago last Christmas there was a double wedding at the Bowlby homestead. Samuel A. Hornbaker and Martha Bowlby and Francis K. Hornbaker and Mary Jane Bowlby stood up before the Rev. Jacob R. Castner and were married. The grooms were brothers and the brides were sisters, the daughters of Robert Bowlby." Robert BOWLBY and Jane ADAMS had the following children:
