232. John BOWLBY Sr. (1489) (6)(7) (8) was born on 16 Oct 1768 in New Jersey. (811)(1490) He was baptised on 13 Nov 1768.(1491) He died on 29 Dec 1851.(811) (1492) BOWLBY FAMILIES references Musconetcong Valley Presbyterian Church
Cemetery records for his death date. He was buried in Musconetcong Valley Presbyterian. Church, New Jersey.(1493) Direct quote from THE BOWLBY FAMILIES...

John Bowlby(9) from Richard(1)) was, according to Rev. William
Frazer's record of baptism, the third child of Thomas and Sarah
(Cowell) Bowlby of Mansfield Woodhouse, New Jersey...

Early researchers agree that John first married Ann Wagner, secondly
Lydia Wagner, and that the twelve known children were by Ann, the
first wife. John and his younger brother, Samuel, were named
executors in their father's will of 1823, and were sworn in on 24
January, 1827. John inherited a seventh part of his father's estate
and lived in Bethlehem Township, Hunterdon County, thoughout his life.
In early 1900's, William A. Reeves, descendant and researcher of this
family's history, writes that John's family were, "...all born and
raised in a log house where the coal storage plant now is at
Junction..." -- Junction later became the town of Hampton. In the
1850 census, John and Lydia were listed living along in Bethlehem.
John left no will, and on 18 January, 1852, his wife, Lydia, renounced
administration in favor of John Rinehart, Jr., husband of John's
daughter, Catharine. The estate was processed in Orphans Court and
consequently divided among twelve children: Sarah, Thomas, Peter,
Ebenezer, John, Catharine, David, Lydia Ann, Jacob, Joseph, Ulysses,
and Charles. David was deceased, and his twelfth part went to his
daughter, Mary Ann. In letters written by Emilie (Bowlby) Lawson in
1902, John is said to have been called "Uncle Jack" by all, and that
"He was tall as a pine tree and hollered so that if the wind blew the
right way you could hear him a mile." Emily also writes about Lydia
being "read out" of the Presbyterian church because she listed to her
son-in-law, a Unitarian preacher.
