He was married to Sarah SWAYZE on 1 Nov 1862.⁽⁷²¹³⁾⁽⁷²¹⁴⁾ In Raymond's Bowlby Families, Part 5, he make no mention of another
wife, Emma A., nor any children save William S. Bowlby. Sarah SWAYZE⁽³⁾⁽⁸¹⁶⁾⁽⁶⁾⁽⁷⁾⁽⁸⁾ was born on 28 May 1835.⁽⁷²¹⁵⁾⁽⁷²¹⁶⁾ She died on 6 Aug 1905.⁽⁷²¹⁷⁾ ⁽⁷²¹⁸⁾ John R. BOWLBY and Sarah SWAYZE had the following children:
