Her daughter, Evelyn (Bowlby) Coffay said her mother, Mina, told the
story of how her father stepped out of the house on the day she was
born - it was Easter Sunday - and heard the church bells ringing and
decided to name her Mina Easter Belle.

build around 1870 by his father, William Ennis Bowlby, a few southeast
of Olney. Although known all his life as George Edward, his birth
certificate reads "George Bowlby, Jr." He died on 8 Feb 1993 in Decatur, Macon County, Illinois.(12565) (3343) He died at about 6:30 AM on 8 February 1993 after having suffered a
heart attack three weeks earlier to the day. He was buried on 11 Feb 1993 in Haven Hill Cemetery, Olney, Richland County, Illinois. A visitation service was held at Brintlinger funeral Home in Cerro
Gordo, Illinois. Graveside services were held at 1:00 in Haven Hill
Cemetery, Olney, Illinois on a cold and rainy Thursday, 11 February,
1993. Both services were well attended and were conducted by the Rev.
Don Flury of the Church of the Brethren in Cerro Gordo, Illinois. George worked in construction until ill health forced his to retire.
He also worked as a smallhold farmer and loved the outdoors,
especially hunting, fishing, and large gardens or "truck patches." For
many years, he made his own hoop nets for river fishing. Until their
later years, George and Pauline canned foods from their large gardens.
Pauline is remembered for her excellent cooking, especially her baking
skills. Her homemade loaves of bread, buns, and cinnamon rolls were
unsurpassed. George also enjoyed cooking and his fish and wild game
are fondly remembered by his children.
