ELEVENTH GENERATION

1593. Andrew Cregar BOWLBY ⁽⁷⁷⁸⁰⁾⁽³⁶³²⁾⁽⁷⁾⁽⁸⁾ was born on 1 Dec 1849 in Richland Twsp., Rush County, Indiana.⁽⁷⁷⁸¹⁾ He died on 19 Sep 1908.⁽⁷⁷⁸²⁾ He was buried in Forest Hill Cemetery, Shelbyville, Indiana.⁽⁷⁷⁸³⁾ In 1869, Andrew moved from Rush County to Shelby County and taught
school there until 1880 when he started the manufacturing of brick and
drainage tile. He went into partnership with his brother-in-law John
McCabe, who was a lumber merchant, and they added to their other lines
the manufacturing of stoves -- Eagle Range Stove Company. After John
McCabe's death in 1889, Andrew managed the business alone until he
took his son William as partner in 1904. Andrew belonged to the
fraternal orders of Odd Fellows, Ben Hur, and Rebekahs. He was deacon
and elder of the First Presbyterian Church in Shelbyville and was a
Republican in politics. Andrew's biographical sketch and portrait
with his third wife appears in Chadwick's "History of Shelby County
Indiana" published in 1909.

He was married to Cassander Ann AMOS on 24 Sep 1874 in Shelby Co., Indiana.⁽⁷⁷⁸⁴⁾ Cassander Ann AMOS⁽⁶⁾⁽³⁶³²⁾⁽⁷⁾⁽⁸⁾ was born on 18 Nov 1853.⁽⁷⁷⁸⁵⁾ She died on 15 Sep 1878.⁽⁷⁷⁸⁶⁾ She was buried in Amos Family Plot in Winchester Cemetery, near Shelbyville, Indiana. She was also known as "Cassie".⁽⁷⁷⁸⁷⁾ Andrew Cregar BOWLBY and Cassander Ann AMOS had the following children:

encephalitis, with which he was stricken while very young. He also
suffered from epilepsy. He attended a school for the blind in
Indianapolis, but became ill and never finished. He tried to learn
the broom trade, but again illness overtook him. His contemporaries
agreed that he was mentally and manually very clever, but probably
overly protected by his mother who cared for him most of his life.
