568. Dennis W. BOWLBY ⁽³⁶²⁴⁾⁽⁶⁾ was born on 15 Jul 1821 in Hunterdon County, New Jersey.⁽³⁶²⁵⁾ He died on 13 Sep 1909 in Shelby County, Indiana.⁽³⁶²⁶⁾⁽³⁶²⁷⁾ He was buried in Forest Hill Cemetery, Shelbyville, Indiana.⁽³⁶²⁸⁾⁽³⁶²⁹⁾

He was married to Elizabeth Ann CRAEGER on 23 Nov 1843 in Hunterdon County, New Jersey.⁽³⁶³⁰⁾⁽³⁶³¹⁾ Officiated by Landis. Dennis, Eliza, and their first son moved from New Jersey and lived with Dennis' parents in Richland Township, Rush County, Indiana, where the remainder of their children were born. They reared their family over a 25-year residence there. As the eldest son, Dennis was appointed administrator of his father's estate on 12 November 1846. Under the misspelled surname "Bolba," the 1850 census lists Dennis as head of household which included his wife, five children, his mother, his sister Rachel, and his brother William. In 1869 Dennis, Eliza, and at least two of his younger sons, Andrew and Joseph, moved to Shelby County where Dennis farmed until 1892 when he gave up active work and moved to Shelbyville.

Just a little less than two months before he died, the Shelbyville Morning News of Friday, 16 July 1909 carried a story on the celebration of his 88th birthday. Elizabeth Ann CRAEGER⁽⁶⁾⁽³⁶³²⁾⁽⁷⁾⁽⁸⁾ was born on 7 May 1814 in Clinton, New Jersey.⁽³⁶³³⁾ She died on 19 Jan 1895 in Shelby County, Indiana.⁽³⁶³⁴⁾ She was also known as "Eliza Ann Crager".⁽³⁶³⁵⁾ Her marriage record notes her with this name. Dennis W. BOWLBY and Elizabeth Ann CRAEGER had the following children:

1594 vi. Sophia Monfort BOWLBY⁽³⁾⁽³⁶³⁶⁾⁽³⁶³⁷⁾⁽⁶⁾⁽³⁶³²⁾⁽⁷⁾⁽⁸⁾ was born on 18 Feb 1851.⁽³⁶³⁸⁾ She died on 28 Sep 1851.⁽³⁶³⁹⁾ The DAR Cemetery Records in the Rushville Indiana Public Library
indicates she lived only two months; however, her gravestone
inscription reads: "Sophia M., daughter of Dennis and Eliza Bowlby
died September 28 1851." This would mean she lived to age 7 months 10
days. She was buried in Richland Presbyterian Cemetery.⁽³⁶⁴⁰⁾

1596 viii. John Cregar BOWLBY⁽³⁾⁽³⁶³⁶⁾⁽³⁶³⁷⁾⁽⁶⁾⁽³⁶³²⁾⁽⁷⁾⁽⁸⁾ was born on 28 May 1856.⁽³⁶⁴¹⁾ The birthdate given here is according to his father's Bible; however
his gravestone reads:
"John C. Son of Dennis & Eliza A. Bowlby died Feb. 22, 1864, aged 7
yrs., 8 mo., 24 days." He was buried in Richland Presbyterian Cemetery.⁽³⁶⁴²⁾
