Sir Anthony Alfred BOWLBY⁽⁸⁹⁸⁸⁾⁽⁵⁾⁽⁶⁾⁽⁷⁾⁽⁸⁾ was born on 10 May 1855 in Namur, Belgium.⁽⁸⁹⁸⁹⁾⁽⁸⁹⁹⁰⁾ He died on 7 Apr 1929 in New Forest Area of England.⁽⁸⁹⁹¹⁾⁽⁸⁹⁹²⁾⁽⁸⁹⁹³⁾ He was baptised in Chaudfontaine, Belgium.⁽⁸⁹⁹⁴⁾ He was 1st Baronet, succeeded by his eldest son, Sir Anthony Hugh Mostyn Bowlby.

Sir Bowlby was of Manchester Square, Metropolitan Borough of St. Marylebone, Knight Commander of the Order of St. Michael and St. George, Knight Commander of the Bath, Knight Commander of Royal Victorian Order, Fellow of Royal College Surgeons of England, Honorary Major-General (retired) Army Medical Service, Honorary Doctor of Civil Law Durham, 1923, Consulting Surgeon to St. Bartholomew's Hospital, Surgeon to King Edward VII's Household, 1904-10, Honorary Surgeon-in-Ordinary to King George V, 1910, President Royal College of Surgeons, 1920-23, served as Senior Surgeon-in-Charge of "Portland Hospital," South African War 1899-1900 (dispatches, Commander of the Order of St. Michael and St. George, Medal), and as Consulting Surgeon to British Armies in France in World War I, 1914-19 (dispatches), American Distinguished Serivce Medal. He was created a Baronet 17
July, 1923.,

He was married to Maria Bridget MOSTYN on 12 Apr 1898 in Buckworth, county Huntingdon.⁽⁸⁹⁹⁵⁾⁽⁸⁹⁹³⁾ Duncan Minty, husband of descendant Rachel Hopkins, corrects the date of this marriage as identified in BOWLBY FAMILIES and in LDS files in an email exchange January, 2002:

Anthony Alfred Bowlby married Maria Bridget Mostyn on 12th April 1898, not 12th April 1889. His marriage certificate confirm's the date as 12th April 1898, as does the Dictionary of National Biography and his obituary in The Times (of London) on 9th April 1929. On his marriage certificate, he is shown as being 42 years old, which ties in with his DOB in 1855.
The LDS's IGI also refers to the 1889 year in error. Maria Bridget MOSTYN⁽⁵⁾⁽⁶⁾⁽⁷⁾⁽⁸⁾ was born on 21 Mar 1867 in Buckworth, county Huntingdon.⁽⁸⁹⁹⁶⁾ She died in 1957.⁽⁸⁹⁹⁷⁾ Sir Anthony Alfred BOWLBY and Maria Bridget MOSTYN had the following children:
