NINTH GENERATION

233. Thomas BOWLBY Jr. (3) (1498)(816) (6)(7) (8) was born on 12 May 1772.(1499) He died before 1823.(1500)

From BOWLBY FAMILIES:

Thomas was most likely the first child of Thomas and Sarah (Cowell)
Bowlby, since he was given the name of his father and paternal great
grandfather. In his father's will of 1823, Thomas was deceased and
had left a wife, Hannah ______, as his widow. Thomas' brothers John
-- known to be the third child in the family -- and Samuel -- known to
be the fifth child -- were chosen executors in 1823, probably because
they were then the oldest living sons. Hannah, Thomas' widow,
inherited the use of a seventh part of his father's estate during her
widowhood, after which, the estate was to be passed on to her
husband's other heirs, indicating that there were living children.
Mrs. Joseph Brumley, West Union, Ohio, offers most of the information
on this line, but information found in Duncan's HISTORY OF MONTGOMERY
COUNTY KANSAS has been used as supplement. Thomas and Hannah Bowlby
had nine known children: Rebecca, Ebenezer, Samuel C., Adam Riley,
Jacob M., Louisa, Mary, William Inis, and David.
