534. Samuel Coleman BOWLBY ⁽³⁾⁽³³³⁴⁾⁽⁸¹⁶⁾⁽⁶⁾⁽⁷⁾⁽⁸⁾ was born on 23 Aug 1801.⁽³³³⁵⁾⁽³³³⁶⁾⁽³³³⁷⁾⁽³³³⁸⁾ Bowlby Families book just estimates 1800. He signed a will on 16 Jul 1875 in Newark, Essex County, New Jersey.⁽³³³⁹⁾ He also had a codicle dated 17 Oct, 1883. His will was proven 16 January 1884. He died on 26 Nov 1883.⁽³³⁴⁰⁾⁽³³⁴¹⁾⁽³³⁴²⁾

He was married to Salinda CARTER on 20 Oct 1830.⁽³³⁴³⁾ There were both noted as being from Mansfield and were married by Rev. J. R. Castner. Their two wills give the names of two sons, Luther Calvin, and William Whitfield, as well as four grandchildren. A grave once recorded as being near the graves of Thomas Bowlby and Sarah (Cowell) recorded a third son, Henry Carter Bowlby. Salinda CARTER⁽³³⁴⁴⁾⁽⁸¹⁶⁾⁽⁶⁾⁽⁷⁾⁽⁸⁾ was born on 11 Feb 1806.⁽³³⁴⁵⁾⁽³³⁴⁶⁾ She signed a will on 20 Aug 1889 in Hackettstown, Warren County, New Jersey.⁽³³⁴⁷⁾ She died on 25 Apr 1893.⁽³³⁴⁸⁾⁽³³⁴⁹⁾ She was also known as "Selinda, Linda or Celinda".⁽³³⁵⁰⁾⁽³³⁵¹⁾ Presbyterian church records show that Samuel C. Bowlby of Mansfield, New Jersey, married Selinda Carter of Mansfield, New Jersey. The correct name of Samuel's wife was Salinda Carter as proved by her will of 1889 though variants of "Linda" and Selinda" are found in other documents. After her husband's death, Salinda moved to Hackettstown, Warren County, New Jersey, where she wrote her will. Samuel Coleman BOWLBY and Salinda CARTER had the following children:

1442 ii. Henry Carter BOWLBY⁽⁸¹⁶⁾⁽⁶⁾⁽⁷⁾ ⁽⁸⁾ was born on 23 Jul 1831.⁽³³⁵³⁾ He died on 17 Apr 1833.⁽³³⁵⁴⁾⁽³³⁵⁵⁾ A record of his stone that once lay beside the graves of his grandparents in Mansfield Cemetery, Washington, New Jersey, according the Raymond Edwin Bowlby's work.
