George BOWLBY ⁽³⁴²³⁾⁽⁸¹⁶⁾⁽³⁴¹⁶⁾⁽⁷⁵⁰³⁾⁽⁷⁵⁰⁴⁾⁽⁷⁵⁰⁵⁾⁽⁷⁵⁰⁶⁾⁽⁷⁵⁰⁷⁾⁽⁶⁾⁽⁷⁾⁽⁸⁾ was born on 10 Mar 1845 in Clermont County, Ohio.⁽³⁴²³⁾⁽⁷⁵⁰⁸⁾ He died on 12 Dec 1924 in Olney, Richland County, Illinois.⁽³⁴²³⁾⁽⁷⁵⁰⁹⁾ He was buried in Blain (Sugar Creek) Cemetery, Richland County, Illinois.⁽³⁴²³⁾⁽⁷⁵¹⁰⁾ George began collecting real estate at an early age. Besides the 20
acres purchased from his father, he also bought 25 acres from Abba M.
Buckingham for $500 on 25 January, 1867, and 20 acres from the
Scamahorns on 13 February, 1867, for the sum of $300. George was
involved in many other real estate transactions over the next decade
or so. He is listed as a farmer in the 1870, 1880, 1900 censuses. In
the 1910 census, he is listed as a surveyor, and in the OFFICIAL CITY
DIRECTORY OF OLNEY AND RICHLAND COUNTY, ILLINOIS, 1916, he is listed
as county surveyor and he and wife Xenia were living at 515 W. North
Avenue, Olney.

He was married to Xenia BUCKINGHAM on 11 Feb 1865 in Olney, Richland County, Illinois.⁽³⁴²³⁾⁽⁷⁵¹¹⁾ Her name on the marriage record was Heniah. Xenia BUCKINGHAM⁽⁶⁾⁽⁷⁵¹²⁾⁽⁷⁾⁽⁸⁾ was born on 31 Jan 1845 in Clermont County, Ohio.⁽⁷⁵¹³⁾ She died on 23 Jan 1923 in Olney, Richland County, Illinois.⁽⁷⁵¹⁴⁾ She was buried in Haven Hill Cemetery, Olney, Richland County, Illinois. She was the daughter of Nimrod B. and Sarah (Snider) Buckingham.
